Re: Fretboard
Domination (Weekly lessons for up to one
year.)
Dear Reader,
Most guitar players never discover the
joy and freedom of having complete mastery
of the fretboard. They never join the ranks
of those who play anywhere on the board
with seemingly effortless ease. And they
never create the sounds they really hear
themselves playing in their heads.
It's as if they are forever stuck with
their training wheels and can't get rid of
them. They are handicapped somehow but
don't know how or why.
Why Don't Most Guitar Players Learn
How To Use the Entire
Fretboard?
It's usually the way they are taught or
the way they teach themselves...
- When you go to a teacher
you are first taught to play in
positions. A position is a
range of frets on the fretboard. A
range of 4 frets usually. You learn one
position, then the next and so on.
- These 'positions' create little
boxes which are very hard to
get out of. They become a
habit. They are like training
wheels... but most never
learn how to remove those training
wheels. The wheels end up being a
hindrance... something that
holds you back without you knowing
it.
- Most people never follow through
with a teacher or a method. They nearly
always give up BEFORE they have learnt
all the boxes and how they link
together. They quit lessons (or working
with a method) BEFORE
the
training wheels
come off. So they get stuck with
the 'training-wheel boxes' with no idea
why or how to break out of them.
Chords and Scales are the Same
Thing!
Another problem this creates is that
there is no seeming relationship to the
notes you play in a 'box' to the chords you
learn either.
- For example... how does a c major
scale box shape on the 3rd fret relate
to a C bar chord on the 8th fret and
vice versa?
- It seems most people play chords in
one place on the fretboard and play the
scale in another.
This results in you not understanding
the relationship between chords and scales.
And this makes soloing a lot more difficult
to understand than it needs to be.
It's as if chords and scales are two
different things... whereas in reality they
are one and the same. The chords are born
from within the scales. They are all part
and parcel of each other.
All a chord is,
is the scale played in
harmony...played two or three, or 4
notes at a time.
So why learn a chord down the bottom of
the neck and a scale in the middle without
knowing how they relate to one another?
It's mad, but it's how most of us learn
to play. And that's because we learn to
play in boxes... and
those boxes are really prisons with brick
walls that prevent you achieving what you
want.
The Solution Is To Start
From a Different
Perspective
Fretboard Domination starts with the way
you want to end up being able to play.
- Pro's play along the length
of the neck. They have
complete freedom and command of the
fretboard and they can express
themselves easily.
- Most amateurs play across
the neck in little boxes. Thus
they have difficulty in coming up with
new ideas and have trouble really
expressing themselves. They end up
sounding a lot the same.
The boxes are training wheels and are
necessary. But most never learn how to get
rid of the training wheels once and for
all.
So the solution is
somewhat counter-intuitive... not
something you instinctively or
automatically think of when learning...
Instead of playing across the neck in
boxes, you need to play along the neck like
the pros. You need to start off
this way so you can get the
big picture of the entire fretboard and how
everything relates to each other... chords,
scale patterns, arpeggios etc.
You do that by
looking at the Big
Picture. Just like looking at a
completed jigsaw puzzle so you know what it
looks like when you start to put all the
pieces together.
It gives you a sense of direction and a
goal.
The Master Pattern is Your Key
To
Fretboard
Domination and
Control!
Here's a video showing
the concept of the Master Pattern.
(TIP:
If you're shrewd, you will learn a lot from
this
video to turbo-charge your knowledge and
playing ability.)
Click on the
video below to
play.
With the Master Pattern
you'll experience increased learning
benefits...
- Easier to learn to
play by ear because all
the patterns are the same
- Easier to understand the connection
between scales, chords, triads,
arpeggios, scales etc
- Easier to learn to
play songs in any
key because all the
patterns are the same
- You'll learn 2 or 3 times
faster than most because you'll
know the relationships and how they fit
into the Master Pattern Big
Picture!
I could go on and on here. But I
won't.
So let's cut to the chase and find
out what's included in your
Fretboard Domination
membership...
The focus overall is to help you quickly
develop the 2 most important skills any
musician worth his salt strives for...
- To be able to learn and
play songs by ear.
Just by listening you will be able to
hear what chord progressions and scales
are being used.
- To be able to play any song
you learn in any
key right on the
spot.
So they are the over-riding goals we
will work towards.
Next... it's important to
understand the mechanics of how the guitar
fretboard actually works in relation to
modern music.
First
you need to understand some very basic
music theory... about scales and how
chords are made from scales. How scales and
chords are one and the same.
Secondly
you need to know HOW
that basic simple music theory actually
sits on the fretboard... and that's
where the Master Pattern comes in.
From there we will explore every
nook and cranny of the Master
Pattern so you can
navigate easily from one end of the board
to the other with whatever style of music
you decide to play.
There will be plenty of videos showing
how to do all this stuff. All you have to
do is read the lesson, watch the video and
play it.

"I am
LOVING your course. Thanks
for the excellent material.
You make it so simple to
understand. I have tried to
learn how to play many
times before and never had
this much fun learning.
Your encouraging words help
me stay focused on my goal
of learning how to
play."
John -
N.Y.
"I was
probably one of JBs first
internet students and had
been strumming a few songs.
Since I started with John
my guitar playing has
reached a new level and is
getting better all the
time. From the start JB
kept saying to play
properly you have to learn
the basics. I was not fully
convinced but I started to
read his ebooks and that
got me interested and from
there on I was like a
sponge wanting to learn
more and more. What I like
about JBs style of teaching
is he makes you think for
yourself and therefore you
retain the knowledge much
easier. Everything in his
courses are laid out in
such a way that it makes it
easy to learn all aspects
of the guitar from
strumming to playing solos
and what ever else you may
want to learn."
Don T - Auckland,
N.Z.
"Shortly
after viewing John's video
lesson on Transposing I
happened to walk into my
neighborhood hardware store
where some tired old song
was playing over the
loudspeaker system. I don't
recall the name of the song
nor the group but as a
result of John's lesson I
recognized this songs
guitar chording as a one,
six, four, five
progression, and this
allowed me to appreciate
the music in a way I
previously could not.
In this way
I am now listening to music
with more the ear and
intention of a musician
than just a consumer. Thank
you, John, for your
material that is
shepherding me along a
deliberate effort beyond
merely playing the guitar
but really knowing the
guitar. I highly recommend
your products to anyone
determined to do the same.

under your fingertips with the Master
Pattern.
It's not really a secret... and when you

Then you will be billed $17.00 each month

I think this is a very reasonable price
and represents good value for money. A
regular teacher would charge up to $30 or
more per lesson once a week. About
$100-$150 a month! This is only $17.00 and
you get all the eBooks, videos and backing
tracks and bonuses to keep on your
computer. You can archive everything and
refer back to it whenever you want.

I also don't want to make it too cheap
because I don't want any time wasters,

But because of these tough financial
times, I want to keep the price low. So
instead of $47 per month, you can
